On-base housing

  • Barracks are the only on-base quarters.
  • There is no government-owned family housing.

The housing page states two barracks cutoffs.

  • One line covers frocked E-5 and below.
  • Another line covers unaccompanied E-4 and below.
  • Both lines put paid E-5 and above off base.
  • Ask housing which cutoff matches your orders.

Community housing

  • Accompanied members live in the community.
  • Check in at housing when you arrive.
  • The brief is Monday and Wednesday, 8:30 to 10:00.
  • The brief is in building 265.
  • House hunting usually takes two to three weeks.
  • Housing reviews the home before the lease is signed.
  • Leases are signed at the housing service center.
  • About 99 percent of leases are fully furnished.
  • Landlords usually provide major appliances.
  • Loaner furnishings are not available.
  • Community power is 220 volts and 50 hertz.
  • Military temporary lodging can last up to 45 days.
  • File a lodging claim every 10 days.
  • DoD civilians may use temporary quarters for up to 90 days.
  • The NSA Bahrain housing page says keep at least $1,600 for the first 10 days.
  • That lodging cost is reimbursable with receipts.

  • Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday hours are 8:00 to 16:00.
  • Tuesday hours are 8:00 to 13:00.

Schools

  • Bahrain Elementary School is the DoDEA elementary.
  • Bahrain Middle-High School covers the upper grades.
  • The housing page lists both for kindergarten through grade 12.
