NSA Naples

Naval Support Activity Naples is the Navy housing host for this locality. Aviano and Sigonella use different localities.

Housing allowance

• OHA pays rent up to the lease or the ceiling, whichever is less.
• Residents of government-leased housing do not draw OHA.
• If you decline family housing, the page says you are not entitled to OHA.
• See the rates table for your pay grade.

The NSA Naples housing page assigns accompanied members to family housing.

• Grades E-1 through O-6 get a direct assignment when a unit is available.
• Assignment uses pay grade, family composition, and control date.
• That rule does not apply to DoD civilians, contractors, or members assigned to Gaeta.
• An exception to live on the economy is a written request.
• It goes from the member through the commanding officer or officer in charge. Then it goes through the housing director to the commanding officer.
• Those requests are rarely approved.
• Your wait-list category may have fewer than five family units. Then the office issues a certificate of non-availability.
• You may then live on the economy.

Unaccompanied housing:

• E-1 to E-3 use permanent-party barracks. So do an E-4 with less than four years, and a frocked E-5.
• That applies unless the space is not immediately available.
• Bachelor housing is not available in Gaeta or Rome.
• Personnel at Naval Detachment Gaeta use the Gaeta housing office for economy housing.

Check in within 3 days of arrival, through area orientation or by email.

Arrival temporary lodging allowance is up to 60 days, in 10-day increments.

• A direct move-in can skip temporary lodging when a unit in your category is available.
• The sponsor contacts housing two weeks prior.

On-base housing

Government family housing is at the Support Site in Gricignano.

• Apartments have two, three, or four bedrooms.
• Units have central heat and air conditioning, and a U.S.-style washer and dryer.
• Outlets are 110 volt and 220 volt.
• The only government quarters for people in Gaeta or Rome are at NSA Naples.
• Counselors help with economy housing near Gaeta and Rome.
• Pets on the Support Site must be spayed or neutered and microchipped.
• Exotic pets are prohibited.

Community housing uses Italian 220-volt, 50-hertz power.

• The housing warehouse loans appliances and two transformers.
• Loaner furniture ends when household goods arrive, or at 90 days, whichever comes first.
• Advance OHA can cover the first month of rent and the security deposit.

Schools

The housing page names two DoDEA schools, and a school liaison.

Before you sign

• Ask whether a family-housing unit in your category is available. Declining it can end OHA.
• Unaccompanied members in the barracks grades: ask whether a room is open.
• Check in within 3 days.
• File temporary lodging claims every 10 days while you are still in temporary lodging.
