Housing allowance

• OHA pays rent up to the lease or the ceiling, whichever is less.
• See the rates table for your pay grade.

On-base housing

The Moron Air Base housing page describes government duplexes with yards.

• Power is 110 volts at 60 hertz.
• Units have central heat and air conditioning.
• Each unit has a dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, microwave, washer, and dryer.
• Apply with DD Form 1746.
• A walk-in within 30 days of arrival keeps an earlier eligibility date. That date is the day you left the last installation.
• After 30 days, the application date is the walk-in date.

Unaccompanied Airmen:

• E-1 to E-3 live in unaccompanied housing.
• So do E-4 members with less than three years of service.
• Living in unaccompanied housing is mandatory for those grades.
• An E-4 with three or more years, and higher grades, move into the community.
• When extra dorm rooms exist, higher grades may ask about space-available rooms.

Off-base housing

The same page gives community ranges. They are not OHA ceilings.

• Apartments average about 80 to 120 square meters.
• Houses average about 120 to 140 square meters.
• Approximate monthly rent is 500 to 900 euro.
• Water, gas, and electricity run about 250 to 500 euro a month.
• Community power is 220 volts at 50 hertz.
• The housing office supplies appliances that are not already in the unit.
• Do not count on American king-size furniture.
• The base has no bonded temporary storage.

Before you sign

• Contact the military housing office before you sign.
• Sponsors help with house-hunting appointments.
• Ask whether a government duplex is available.
• Ask which dorm rule matches your pay grade and years of service.
• Apply for government housing within 30 days if you want the earlier eligibility date.
