On-base housing

  • Military members are assigned family or unaccompanied housing.
  • Family homes are at Camp Zama or Sagamihara.
  • Report to building 671 within two working days.
  • Bring orders and your departure date.
  • The office does not take advance applications.
  • Family homes include a washer, dryer, and dishwasher.
  • The newcomers page says shipment may be half the weight allowance.
  • Camp Zama is a weight-restricted area.
  • Unaccompanied E-6 and below report to the unit.
  • The unit assigns them under the barracks program.
  • E-7 and above report to housing for a bachelor unit.
  • Those units run about 340 to 460 square feet.
  • They are furnished, with laundry in a shared room.
  • Geographical bachelors live in unaccompanied housing.
  • Members in EFMP should call housing early.

Two Army pages list different office hours.

  • The newcomers page opens Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday in the morning.
  • Those mornings run 8:00 to 12:00, then 13:00 to 16:00.
  • Thursday on that page is 13:00 to 16:00 only.
  • The housing services page lists weekdays 8:00 to 16:00.
  • That page closes from 12:00 to 13:00.
  • Ask the office which hours are current.

Community housing

  • Accompanied civilians may choose on-post or off-post housing.
  • Unaccompanied civilians live off post.
  • Wait to reserve an off-post home until you arrive.
  • Housing must approve the off-post home.
  • Off-post power is 100 volts and 50 hertz.
  • Search homes.mil for Army Camp Zama.

  • Shirley Lanham Elementary is listed for this area.
  • Zama American Middle High School is on Camp Zama.
