SHAPE Village

Passports, pets, driving, and shipping are on the PCS to Belgium checklist.

SHAPE Village Ministry of Finance housing is its own locality. Chievres and other SHAPE housing use a different one.

The lookup prints one rental ceiling for every pay grade with dependents. It prints one ceiling for every pay grade without dependents. Do not use the Chievres table for a SHAPE Village lease.

Housing allowance

• OHA pays rent up to the lease or the ceiling, whichever is less.
• See the rates table for your pay grade.

The USAG Benelux-SHAPE/Chievres housing page describes the Village.

• SHAPE Village is inside SHAPE.
• The United States treats it as a private rental.
• The garrison housing office does not manage it.
• The SHAPE International Housing Office in building 210 assigns apartments and houses.
• Apply on that office's form.
• You need an endorsement from the national military representative or the commander.
• Allocation follows SHAPE directive 100-3 and is based on family size.
• The U.S. housing office is building 209. It is not affiliated with SHAPE Village.

Deposits:

• A deposit is discussed at the lease appointment.
• The newcomers page says up to two months of rent is typical.
• In the Brussels region, three months is typical.
• Contact the U.S. housing office within 48 hours, even if you want the Village.
• That office says which housing you are eligible for.

Temporary lodging allowance is authorized in 15-day increments, not to exceed 60 days.

Furnishings

• Wardrobes and kitchen cabinets are not provided in SHAPE Village when built-in storage exists.
• Loaner furniture for other homes runs up to 90 days after move-in.
• Do not ship stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, or waterbeds.

• Apply through the SHAPE International Housing Office if you want the Village.
• Contact the U.S. housing office within 48 hours of arrival.
