NAS Sigonella

Naval Air Station Sigonella is the Navy housing host for this locality. Naples uses a different one.

Housing allowance

• OHA pays rent up to the lease or the ceiling, whichever is less.
• Active-duty and civilian residents in Marinai do not receive OHA and are not charged rent.
• The same is true for BAH and LQA in that neighborhood.
• Contractors, non-appropriated-fund civilians, and foreign military in Marinai pay rent.

The NAS Sigonella housing page covers where you live.

• Accompanied members may live in government family housing or off base.
• Check in at the housing service center within two business days.
• Unaccompanied E-1 through E-4 are assigned to unaccompanied housing.
• Unaccompanied members and geographical bachelors at E-5 and above live in the community.
• Rents typically range from 1,000 to 2,000 euro a month. That range is not a ceiling.
• At signing, pay the landlord two months' rent in euro: the first month and the deposit.
• Listings the office has inspected are on HOMES.mil.
• A unit found another way still needs the landlord's documents and a housing inspection before the lease.

Temporary lodging claims are filed every 10 days.

• E-4 and below normally go to the barracks.
• They receive temporary lodging allowance only if space is not available.
• The allowance can be terminated if adequate permanent housing is declined.

On-base housing

Family housing is townhouses.

• Three-bedroom units average 1,354 square feet.
• Four-bedroom units average 1,495 square feet.
• Units have a refrigerator, dishwasher, washer, dryer, and central heat and air conditioning.
• Outlets are 110 volt and 220 volt. Italy's power is 50 hertz.
• Two pets are allowed: two cats, two dogs, or one of each.

Do not ship U.S. major appliances.

• Off-base power is 220 volts at 50 hertz.
• The housing office provides appliances and transformers.
• Loaner furniture may be kept for up to 90 days.
• Unaccompanied-housing rooms are a standard size. Those residents should not ship household goods.

Before you sign

• Check in within two business days, before you sign a community lease.
• Ask whether a family-housing unit is available. Residents in Marinai do not draw OHA.
• Budget two months of rent in euro at signing.
• Do not ship U.S. kitchen appliances.
