Aviano Air Base is in Italy. The installation housing office says accompanied families live in private rentals in the local community. This page is for service members of any branch assigned there. The rates table prints rental ceilings, the utility allowance, and MIHA from the DTMO OHA Rate Lookup.

1. Housing: OHA, not BAH
Off base, housing money is Overseas Housing Allowance. DTMO reimburses rent up to the lease or the allowance, whichever is less. Check current rate on the DTMO OHA Rate Lookup after the housing office confirms the locality.
Rental ceilings, the utility allowance, and MIHA for locality IT001 are in the rates table. They come from the DTMO OHA Rate Lookup for pay period 16 October 2026. Allowances effective 20261001. Rate of exchange 0.84399999999982, effective 20261001. An E-1 to E-4 with dependents has a rental ceiling of 1111.00 euro ($1316.35). The utility allowance with dependents is 1404.00 euro ($1663.51), the same amount for every pay grade in that status. Without dependents it is 1053.00 euro ($1247.63). MIHA is 688.00 euro ($815.17). Digits are as the lookup printed them. A later pay period can differ.
The installation finding-a-home page (secondary source) says not to sign any agreement without the housing office's approval. It says listings that housing has vetted are on homes.mil. It says TLA for active duty is authorized in 15-day increments and does not print a daily amount. Check current rate with the housing office.
The Air Force housing page says the office will not approve a lease if it judges the rent excessive. It does not print the test it uses. It also says a realtor finder's fee is not authorized for reimbursement at Aviano. Ask the fee before you hire anyone, and expect to pay it yourself.
The office inspects community housing against minimum adequacy standards. A unit that fails is not listed.
2. Government housing and the office
The housing page says there is no traditional government family housing on base. Accompanied personnel, and unaccompanied personnel who are E-4 with more than three years of service and above, live in private rentals. Government-controlled leased family housing is described as available only to key and essential personnel the installation identifies, off base, within about 15 minutes of the base. Apply for that leased housing with DD Form 1746.
Unaccompanied housing rules on that page are written for Air Force dorms: E-1 to E-3, and E-4 with less than three years, live in unaccompanied housing. Another service should ask the office what applies. The dorm office email on that page is [email protected], DSN 314-632-3676.
Aviano's housing page lists the housing management office at +39 0434 30 2272 and [email protected]. The Air Force housing page lists the same phone and email, plus DSN 314-632-2272.
Needs verification. The two pages do not print the same hours. Aviano's own page says Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the third Thursday 8:30 a.m. to noon. The Air Force housing page says Monday and Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Thursday and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ask the office which clock is current. The Air Force page also prints an office symbol in the address line that does not match the installation name on Aviano's own housing page. Use the phone and email, and ask for the building.
3. Schools
The housing page points families to Aviano Elementary School and Aviano Middle/High School, in the DoDEA system, and mentions bus service. It does not print a tuition figure. This page does not add one.

Before you sign
- Do not sign before the housing office reviews the lease.
- Confirm the locality with the housing office. Compare the lease with your pay grade in the rates table. Check current rate on the DTMO OHA Rate Lookup if the pay period has changed.
- Treat a realtor fee as your own cost unless the office tells you otherwise in writing.
- Ask which office hours are current.
