Real monthly costs when you PCS

Next Base Guide is a personal site for US service members and their families moving to a base. It is for every branch — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force, and Coast Guard — and for bases in the United States and overseas.

Each guide is written for a stated pay range and location. It sticks to one question: how much comes in, how much goes out, and what is left.

Numbers that change sit in one table at the top of the guide, with the date they were last checked. If a figure is unofficial, missing, or marked check current rate, the page flags it. A sample budget is an example, not a promise.

Four base guides are published so far, all in the United Kingdom. Alconbury and Lakenheath have a cited rent ceiling for E-1 to E-5 only. Croughton and Fairford do not print a ceiling. Other pay grades, and any missing rate, are marked Needs verification. These pages do not cover every base.
